Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Movie Is Officially Dead
It comes as no surprise that the Tom Hardy-starring Splinter Cell movie will not be produced by Ubisoft.
Splinter Cell was announced in November 2012, with Hardy, who at the time had played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, set to play special ops agent Sam Fisher.
Two years later, director Doug Liman was hired to direct the film, but nothing concrete has emerged since then. Now, producer Basil Ivanek has confirmed that Splinter Cell is finished. In an interview with The Direct, Ivanek described the film as “one of those movies that will never get made.”
“This movie would have been great. I couldn’t get it right, script-wise and budget-wise. But it would have been great. We had a million different versions of it, and that’s one of the things that got away from us, and it’s really sad,” Ivanek said.
