A new Witcher trilogy is on the way
CD Projekt Red has officially announced that The Witcher 4 has entered full production after a long wait from the series' fans. The new project, named Polaris, will be the first installment in a completely new trilogy set in The Witcher universe. This announcement comes with promises of a fresh and different experience, marking a strong return for the legendary series beloved by fans worldwide.
Director Sebastian Kalemba confirmed the news himself, expressing the team’s excitement about working on this project. However, he also highlighted the challenges the development team may face, especially with the high expectations from fans following the success of the previous titles. Despite this, Sebastian is confident that the team will deliver an exceptional experience that keeps the series among the best games in history.
Approximately 400 developers at the studio are actively focused on developing The Witcher 4, out of the company’s total workforce of 650 employees.
The rest of the team is distributed across other projects, including: Orion, the next installment in the Cyberpunk 2077 series. Sirius, another game set in The Witcher universe. Hadar, an entirely new project about which details are yet to be revealed.
What makes it even more exciting is that this game will be the first chapter of a completely new story, promising new adventures, intriguing characters, and narratives filled with drama and excitement. With the significant number of developers working on the project, it’s evident that the company is putting everything it has into creating a game that will amaze players.
