EA is currently developing the next installment in the renowned Battlefield series in collaboration with four primary studios: DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive. The game aims to return to the series' roots with modern
settings, classic gameplay modes, and massive 64-player battles featuring all-out destruction.

According to a former Battlefield developer, who revealed on Bluesky that 98% of the current development team has not worked on previous installments. This significant change is a result of a massive internal restructuring undertaken by EA following a series of setbacks in recent years. These changes included the departure of the old DICE studio leadership and the recruitment of half of the remaining talent. A new general manager with experience in the Call of Duty series was also appointed to rebuild the franchise with a new development philosophy.

The game is expected to be released next October, aligning with previous rumors about a similar release window. While the return to roots, including a focus on destruction and modern environments, seems promising on paper, the former developer cautioned players against setting their expectations too high due to the new team and a different approach.

Developer Zampella recently spoke about the game, emphasizing the commitment to delivering the classic Battlefield experience loved by players, with competitive improvements that could enable EA to compete with its rival, Call of Duty. However, the actual execution remains the critical factor, as players eagerly follow the game's development to see if EA can successfully restore Battlefield's position as a leading military shooter franchise.
