former PlayStation Executive Praises Microsoft's New Multi-Platform Strategy

Adam Boyes, former head of PlayStation Studios, has lauded Microsoft's new strategy of releasing first-party games on multiple platforms, considering it a win-win policy for everyone involved.

Boyes is well-known in the gaming industry for his appearance in the popular "How to Share Games" video upon the launch of PlayStation 4. He also served as PlayStation's vice president of third-
party relations between 2012 and 2016, and was the co-CEO of Iron Galaxy before recently founding his own consulting firm, Vivrato.

In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Boyes was asked about his opinion on Microsoft's approach to multi-platform releases, particularly with the announcement of Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle coming to PlayStation 5. He commented that Microsoft is no longer focused solely on selling hardware, but has become a provider of interactive entertainment that targets the largest possible audience, regardless of the platform they use.

Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer has stated that the company no longer has any "red lines" regarding its exclusives, but rather adopts an approach that focuses on releasing games on multiple platforms, including those of its competitors. Boyes acknowledged that some players may reject this change due to their brand loyalty, but he believes that this move is in the best interest of players primarily.

In another interview with Gamertag Radio, Spencer discussed the position of Xbox under this new approach, noting that releasing exclusives on all platforms will allow any player to experience Microsoft games regardless of the device they own. He added that this move is not random, but a well-thought-out strategy that enhances the reach of games and makes them accessible to everyone, which ultimately benefits the entire industry.
