Is the *Sleeping Dogs* movie still alive?
Two days ago, Marvel star Simu Liu sparked excitement among Sleeping Dogs fans when he tweeted about his collaboration with the rights holders to turn the beloved game into a movie. It seems things are going beyond that a little.
A source close to the project revealed to IGN that the Sleeping Dogs movie is indeed in the works. The report also mentioned that Simu Liu, who portrayed Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will play the lead role of Wei Shen, in addition to producing the film.
The announcement of the Sleeping Dogs movie adaptation first came in 2017, with Donnie Yen initially set to star. However, the project disappeared a year after the announcement, and just a few weeks ago, Yen himself confirmed that the movie had been canceled.
So, when Simu Liu tweeted about working on bringing Sleeping Dogs to life, fans were left somewhat confused. Liu increased the confusion further when he made another statement, revealing his desire to help revive a sequel to the Sleeping Dogs video game.
